We present a wine tourism program designed to take you to the heart of the Lisbon Wine Region, one of the most dynamic and fascinating wine-growing areas in Portugal.
History & Wines of Lisbon
Based on our in-depth knowledge of this region, our proposal is an immersion that celebrates its rich landscape, deep history, and the remarkable authenticity and diversity of the wines produced here. Drawing on our in-depth knowledge of this region, we offer an immersive experience that celebrates its rich landscape, deep history, and the remarkable authenticity and diversity of the wines produced here. Our main goal is for you to understand the region through these multiple perspectives—historical, landscape, and wine—and feel how wine has been a pillar in the life of these communities over the centuries.
The Lisbon Wine Region is distinguished by its landscape of rolling hills where vineyards reveal themselves at every turn. The constant proximity to the Atlantic Ocean is a determining factor, present in its temperate climate, the breeze that blows and the levels of humidity. This Atlantic influence gives the wines a remarkable freshness, resulting in examples of great elegance and versatility. These are very complete wines, ideal for enjoying on their own or paired with seafood, fish, meat, or salads — a testament to the evolution and development that the region has undergone in recent decades.
Throughout this day, we will explore this area north of Lisbon, witnessing the landscape and feeling the influence of the Atlantic at every turn. We will deepen our knowledge with a visit to two wine producers, chosen because they are located in different areas and represent very different projects. You will learn about their histories and their close connection to the natural character of the region. The tastings will be a highlight, including different types and levels of wine quality, providing a clear picture of the value and quality that the region offers.
Beyond the wines, history comes to life. We will visit monuments from different eras where important episodes took place and which simultaneously hold an undeniable connection to the wine production of this region. We want you to understand how wine is intrinsically linked to the identity and history of this land, from the distant past to modern production today.
Throughout the program, you will be accompanied by a wine expert who is also a profound and passionate connoisseur of the history, geography, and traditions of the region.
This guide will share not only the technical aspects related to wines and their production, but also engaging information about the geography, natural conditions, traditions, and all other elements that have always intersected with wine, making your experience rich and multifaceted.
To complete the sensory experience, lunch will be served at a local restaurant, where you will have the opportunity to discover traditional regional dishes and pair them with Lisbon wines, in a harmonious combination that yields surprising results.
